Kelis Has No Divorce Regrets, “I’ve been divorced…I don’t regret it.”
“In life, we don’t have any regrets.” My best friend says this all of the time and apparently, neither does Kelis in terms of her failed marriage with rapper, Nas. Kelis and Nas tied the knot in 2005 and the 31-year-old singer filed for divorce in 2009 citing “irreconcilable differences”, while she was seven months pregnant at the time. The couple’s divorce was finalized May 29, 2010. Since the birth of their son, Knight, the two have publically battled over child and spousal support.
Kelis told Attitude Magazine, “I’m not a big regret person. I’ve been divorced, and I can still say I don’t regret it. I’m a big believer that if a bad situation happens, it is a lesson that needs to be learned, just once.” She continued, “My mom told us that when we hit our thirties we’d feel our most beautiful and sexy and smart, and I really do feel like that. I’m a mother and I do what I love for a living, and I have enough money to do what I want but not so much that it’s a stress. I think happiness is a momentary feeling but I’m very content. I feel really good.”
