Erykah Badu Helps Push Out Another Baby, “She is now dilated….”

She sings. She Dj’s. She rhymes. And she helps push out babies. Erykah Badu, who moonlights as a doula, assisting w/ delivering bambinos, is helping a young mother deliver as we speak. [FYI: According to Dona International,  the word “doula” comes from the ancient Greek meaning “a woman who serves” and is now used to refer to a trained and experienced professional who provides continuous physical, emotional and informational support to the mother before, during and just after birth; or who provides emotional and practical support during the postpartum period.] Thursday afternoon, Badu hopped on twitter, giving folks an update on a mother in labor, named Kia. She tweeted:

Hour 13 for Kia. All is well. I Took 2 hour nap,Vitamin b12 And 2oz shot of wheat grass. Feel revived. But doula sleep is a non entity. Lol. I am empresed with Kia’s strength. She breathes thru each contraction like she knows exactly what is in store. She is now dilated to 6. Even tho she chose a hospital, Kia has not taken anything for pain. She wants to do it the ol warrior way. My girl. Young queen at 17.

This isn’t Badu’s first birthing experience that she’s shared w/ twitter followers. Last July, she helped a mother deliver a baby, after more than 30 hours of labor. Anywho, good luck to Kia, Badu and that new baby being brought into the world! Updated: Thursday evening Khia and Badu welcomed a healthy baby into the world. Badu tweeted:

Kia at 71/2 cm now. Getting close . I feel emotional. Kaiden Taraj Ludd Was born @5:40 pm Kia and Chris are in love. And I am done… For now.:-)
