Oprah Winfrey’s OWN Cuts 30 Jobs

Last week, we learned that Oprah Winfrey’s OWN network was forced to pull the plug on the Rosie O’Donnell talk show. And Monday, OWN laid off 30 employees in Los Angeles and New York. Of the cut Oprah explained,
“It is difficult to make tough business decisions that affect people’s lives….but the economics of a start-up cable network just don’t work with the cost structure that was in place. As CEO, I have a responsibility to chart the course for long-term success for the network. To wholly achieve that long-term success, this was a necessary next step.”
No word on if additional cuts will be made. [Deadline, Bloomberg]
