Shaunie O’Neal Releases Statement After Latest Fight Scene

After the most recent Basketball Wives altercation took place (between Jennifer Williams and Evelyn Lozada’s assistant, Nia Crooks), the show’s executive producer, Shaunie O’Neal, decided to release a statement, expressing her point of view to viewers.

In a letter to Vibe, she wrote:

“I’m extremely happy that Basketball Wives continues to have another successful fourth season. As the ratings have been through the roof since our season opener, fans continue to tune into the lives of Evelyn, Tami, Jennifer, Royce, Suzie and myself. As there is always controversy and indifference projected on the show, because we are all individual personalities, I always hope that people will find that as much as you may agree or disagree with the opinions, the behavior, [and] even our different taste in shoes, you are taking a look inside the lives of four complete different women. I will never say I agree with some of the behavior between my girlfriends on the show, but if we were to edit certain things out the show would be scripted and not reality.

As a woman of color with kids, I am very aware of myself, but I also have to be aware that my choices cannot be the same for everyone on the show and I have to respect that. I hope the fans feel they see a balance and know we have always been real with our stories, even though it may not always be a positive portrayal of adult women but real women nonetheless. I look forward to developing other media platforms in the future and hope that fans will continue to support.”

What do you think of Shaunie’s letter —> Is she defending the violent actions of her cast on the show, or being honest with what reality TV brings? Lastly, as an executive producer, do you think Shaunie should intervene and discourage TV fighting?

I’d like to know why Jennifer is pushed back in that last photo. SHADE?!?!

@CocktailJay Yes, major shade!… Anyway, The only loose cannon who goes too far is Evelyn IMO. I think Tami is out of control sometimes but her moments seem more authentic, while Evelyn is an opportunist looking for a catch phrase to sell on a tshirt or the honor of trending on twitter for her wild behavior. I’m so over her…. Look at the above picture. She jumps on top of a table because she wants to get to Jenn so bad that she couldn’t even walk around the table like a civilized human being, YET SHE JUMPS RIGHT INTO THE HANDS OF SECURITY! Sitcho14secondsOfFameNeedinAzzzzZzzooown!

And The picture below that—–> Evelyn sat in front of Kenya for atleast 5 minutes (hell, it could have been an hour)… yet she doesn’t get all #crunk until Kenya is practically out the room and Tami has completely blocked her. If she wanted to fight her so bad she would have got Kenya when there was a foot and a half of space between them. Fist to fist. Not throw bottles and dishes… This child needs to be on Bad Girls Club, not Basketball Wives. I wonder how Chad and his family feel about his future bride.

In other words Shaunie is saying – so what the ratings are the highest ever and I am getting paid. So sad!
