Nas Casts Daughter Destiny For New Video, “Daughters”
Despite controversy by his child’s mother, Nas “kept it real” on the set of his new video for his single “Daughters” by featuring his “little princess,” Destiny, in the video. The from-the-heart track about his 17-year old daughter caused controversy with Nas’ baby mother, Carmen Bryan, who was less than impressed with the lyrics. Recently, she expressed her displeasure on twitter explaining:
Just heard “Daughters” by Nas. What a disappointment! He had nothing positive to say about our daughter and his depiction of her is false! Destiny is extremely talented, caring and has a huge heart, none of those things were mentioned. I’m proud of her. Destiny is still a child-it was the wrong platform. No he’s not speaking on it-he’s rapping about it. There’s a huge difference and I don’t respect it.
Maybe he just doesn’t know her like I do. My song would have been totally different!
Meanwhile, Destiny must’ve been okay with how she was portrayed, as she’ll be his leading lady for the video. You can expect ‘Daughters’ to be featured on Mr. Jones’ upcoming album “Life Is Good” in stores July 17.

The way I look is at least he is acknowledging his daughter and apparently in his eyes, he’s speaking the truth. Maybe casting her will bring them closer.
He needed to do this for her. And she seems to get why he is doing it. She was a mess on twitter. A MESS. I got alotta respect for him for doing this.

I agree wit the momma this was totally disrespectful. There was NO positive things in the song. But I see he is trying to teach his daughter right from wrong but that video was not the way to do it.
