Another Reality Show For Saints : Karen Clark Sheard’s Gospel Family Gets Reality Show
Thanks to popular cross-over groups like ‘Mary, Mary’, there are now gospel and faith based reality TV shows that not only feed our secular needs, but entertain us as well. The show, ‘Mary,Mary’ focuses on Erica and Tina Campbell, who are mainstream gospel singers, as they balance life’s ups and downs including marriage, raising families, busy recording and touring schedules and of course, faith. The WeTV show has been a massive hit and will be returning for a third season. This week, we learned that Karen Clark Sheard of The Clark Sisters and her two children: daughter Kierra “KiKi” Sheard, 24, and son J. Drew Sheard, 22, and husband Pastor Bishop J.Drew Sheard will star in “The Sheards” airing on BET.
Karen Clark Sheard is a four-time Grammy winning singer/songwriter and First Lady of Greater Emmanuel Church of God in Christ in Detroit, Michigan where husband is lead pastor. Karen also is apart of the legendary gospel group The Clark Sisters who have been recording music since 1973. Her daughter, Kierra is also a successful Grammy nominated recording artist and actress having released four albums and co-starred in Preachers Kid with Letoya Luckett and Tank. Drew is an upcoming producer and has appeared on several family albums.
The series will highlight the issues Kierra faces as she attempts to take expand musically and take her ministry to the next level while Drew the self proclaimed “black sheep” struggles with establishing an identity outside of his famous family. Kierra and Drew are very heavily involved in the church community and the cameras will follow their journey through faith, sex, music, relationships and more.
