It-Aint-Trickin-If-You-Got-It: Hollywood Spending Big Cash For Mayor Cory Booker For Senate Run
If you’re into politics, it’ll come as no surprise that Hollywood Democrats are positioning Newark Mayor Cory Booker, as their next ‘it’ guy. Some would argue that the Washington native has made great strides, being only the third African American mayor of Newark. Not to mention him being one of the more active political types that is HEAVY into Twitter, tweeting residents, critics and regular folk daily. Anywho, next month, Hollywood Democrats are throwing him a huge tricked out event. Titled, “an evening in support of Cory Booker for Senate“, attendees will contribute $5,000 apiece at the Beverly Hills mansion of producer and former United Artists CEO Jerry Weintraub and his longtime girlfriend, producer Susan Elkins. The Hollywood Reporter has given the inside scoop on who’s actually attending and contributing. Most of the folk scheduled to attend you’ve probably never heard of, but their titles and affiliations should ring a bell. The list of co-hosts include:
—> Disney head Bob Iger;
—> DreamWorks CEO Jeffrey Katzenberg and wife Marilyn;
—> Sony CEO Michael Lynton and wifeJamie, a leader in the local school reform movement;
—> Barry Meyer and Kevin Tsujihara, the respective outgoing and incoming CEOs of Warner Bros.;
—> Bruce Rosenblum, president of Warner Bros. Television Group;
—> HBO president of programming Michael Lombardo and partner Sony Ward;
—> and Sean Bailey, Disney’s president of motion picture production.
Among the directors crew, folk like Steven Spielberg and Rob Reiner will be in attendance, along with Katie McGrath who is a former aide to Sen. Ted Kennedy. Actor Bruce Willis, who is a Hollywood Republican will be in the building, along with HBO’s James Costos and his partner, star interior designer Michael Smith, CAA super agents Kevin Huvane and Bryan Lourd; Netflix content chief Ted Sarandos and wife Nicole Avant, Obama’s former ambassador to the Bahamas. Looks like an expensive party.
