[WATCH] Sneak Peek of ‘The Queen Latifah Show’ Premiering In September
Queen Latifah is officially joining the fall daytime talkshow mix. Details have been a bit on the sketchy side, but we finally know a bit more about ‘The Queen Latifah Show’, produced by Will and Jada Pinkett Smith. The show will feature celebrity interviews, human interest stories, musical performances, comedy sketches and more set to debut on Monday, September 16th. This is Latifah’s second go round on the talk show circuit with her first airing from 1999-2001. Latifah recently spoke about her decision to do a talk show saying:
We knew that there would be a big rush into the field. Some [shows] survived and thrived and some did not. It was better for me to not be part of the wild bunch and let everything calm down a bit. Let the audience decide what they wanted more of and make a little room for me.”
What Will Make Her Show Different From Others:
I think the most important thing about the Queen Latifah Show is Queen Latifah and me bringing my perspective and style to it. I watch TV. I am a TV watcher. I come from a TV watching family. I watch a lot of the talk shows. I watch Ellen. I watch Maury. I watch Fallon. I watch TV. I know what I like. I want to create things that I like… I tend to live real life and I like to see some of that reflected on television. In my life experience, I relate to a lot of different kinds of people. If I can get into and entertained by it, then there are a lot of other people who can be entertained by it. I think the most important thing is for me to feel good about what we are doing.”
