[WATCH] Nicki Minaj Declares She’s Queen & King of New York + Talks Being Overlooked by Kendrick Lamar & Defends Uber Sexy Halloween Costume
With millions of records sold, endorsement deals and cross-over appeal, Nicki Minaj is confident that her work in hip hop speaks for itself. The NYC native also is making it all sorts of clear that she absolutely should have been mentioned in that controversial ‘Control’ verse that Kendrick Lamar released a few months ago. During a weekend interview with Power 105’s ‘The Breakfast Club’, she commented on why she may’ve been overlooked by Kendrick:
I’m probably in the top of the n*ggas he did mention so…go and do your motherf*ckin’ research…It’s like straight up and down…but I also feel like maybe he’s one of those respectful, gentleman that probably wanted to feel like, ‘I don’t wanna say a females name…’ or maybe he just don’t think the kid is ill, but the kid know the kid is ill…so I don’t need to be on nobody’s sh*t, know what I mean?

That costume wasn’t uber sexy it was uber trashy!!!
sigh… Oh Nicki. It’s sad to me that at 31 years old and without the financial burdens like that Sallie Mae monkey on her back this costume is what “freedom” represents for her. She is correct in that she’s free to do whatever she chooses but I’d hope that she would desire to use her freedom in more constructive ways. The timeline for women rappers is much shorter than men’s and besides Queen Latifah not one female rapper has really been able to successfully transition into a long-term, respected career. Hopefully, Nicki is also using her freedom to make some long term plans.
Her platinum albums would not exist if it wasn’t for the many rappers that came before her and paved the way…and the majority or them had more talent in their pinkies than she had on all of her albums combined. #gimmick
