R&B Divas Atlanta & LA Renewed, Faith Evans & Nicci Gilbert Not Returning To Show
TV One is bringing back their hit reality show turned franchise R&B Divas. This week, the network announced that the original show, based in Atlanta, has been green lit for a third season. D’Angela Proctor, SVP of Programming and Production for TV One, confirmed the news saying:
The most recent seasons of the Atlanta and Los Angeles series, as well as their post-season reunion specials, enjoyed stellar ratings success in 2013—marking some of our highest-rated telecasts in network history. The divas are not only wildly talented and celebrated music artists, but relatable women with joys and struggles that resonated strongly with our viewers. We look forward to chronicling more of their stories, and drama, in these upcoming seasons.
The interesting tidbit is that the entire cast won’t be returning. Syleena Johnson, Angie Stone, Monifah Carter and Keke Wyatt have all been confirmed for the new season.
Noticeably absent are the show’s creators Nicci Gilbert, Faith Evans and cast mate Latocha Scott who was introduced last season. No word on why these three won’t be retuning. When news hit, Nicci tweeted:
Congratulations to #RBDIVASATL & #RBDIVASLA CAST on Season #3 & #2… I Look forward to many many more #CHEERS!!!
R&B Divas LA will also return for a second season, but no news for the cast has been confirmed (one can assume Lil Mo will return). The news was also shared on News One with Roland Martin, who was joined by Lil Mo, Syleena Johnson and Angie Stone. Both (LA and Atlanta) are slated for 2014 premieres.
