Reality TV Newbies: R&B Divas Introduces New Cast Mates, Lativa Roberson And Meelah Williams
And then there were two…new faces that is, joining R&B Divas (Atlanta). Last week, we shared that both R&B Divas (Atlanta) and LA would be returning to TV One. The Atlanta show would be saying goodbye to castmate(s) and co-creators Nicci Gilbert, Faith Evans and LaTocha Scott. In short, Nicci wasn’t a fan of how she was portrayed on the show and is focusing on building her brand, along with a spin-off:
I just realized that it really wasn’t a good look for me as a 43-year-old woman with a daughter that I’m trying to raise. I actually wasn’t going to come back for season two because there were things that occurred that I wasn’t happy about.
This week, we’ve learned that two new DIVAS have joined the franchise. Former Destiny’s Child member Latavia Roberson and former 702 member Kameelah “Meelah” Williams are joining the cast of R&B Divas Atlanta. Although the two have been out of the spotlight for a while, viewers will get a glimpse into their new lives. Prior to snagging a gig on reality TV, Latavia gave birth to her first child in August, with music producer Don Vito. If his name sounds familiar, it’s because he was featured as a guest judge on Kandi Burrus’ spin-off show, “The Kandi Factory.” Speaking of RHOA, some people may recall Latavia’s appearance on the show back in 2010, while speaking to Phaedra Parks about breaking back into the music industry. Phaedra served as her attorney at the time. Latavia was in talks with reality TV producer Carlos King as well, for a reality show based on her life and pregnancy. She has also spoken out about turning to alcohol after being kicked out of Destiny’s Child, but has since overcome those struggles. There hasn’t been any word on if and when her reality show will debut. Lativa confirmed the news on Instagram writing:
SO excited 2 FINALLY be able 2share this news. Thank you for ALLLLLLL the incredible love!!!#beingsilly #excited #BeyHive’ing #allLove #R&BDivas#tvOne
And shared the following clip:
Meanwhile, from what we hear, Meelah has also been busy after since her days singing with 702.
She’s been a relationship with R&B singer Musiq Soulchild (shocker, much?) for quite some time and the two have a son together. She’s also been working in the studio, on her solo career with Stevie J (Love & Hip Hop Atlanta). No official air date has yet been released.
