Former BET Host Miss Mykie Lands New Online Show With Russell Simmons’ ‘All Def Digital’
We haven’t seen the last of Miss Mykie. This year, we were introduced to the Howard University graduate as one of the new hosts on BET’s 106 & Park. But her TV gig (alongside Paigion, Shorty Da Prince and Bow Wow) didn’t last long, after she (along w/ the others besides Bow Wow) was released from the show, after only a few months. While we aren’t sure why the three received pink slips (we assume it was due to ratings), Mykie told EBONY:
It’s all love with BET and it will always be. I support BET and they support me 100 percent with my future endeavors. We communicated about what was going on. It’s the TV and entertainment world and you have to prepare yourself for transitions that may come. Change is inevitable. I have grown to understand that it’s just a part of life. It allows you to learn more about yourself. It can be scary or it can be exciting, and whether you like the situation or not you have to keep it moving and make the best of it.
For the past few months, she’s been promoting The Tea, a fully-produced entertainment talk show exclusive to Instagram. With a built-in set and glam squad, the tightly packed edited mini clips have been posted on Instagram. And it looks like popularity of her Instagram show has landed her a new gig. She’s snagged an online show with a similar format, on Russell Simmons’ All Def Digital. She shared the news with us, a few weeks ago, when we met at Karen Civil’s ‘Live Civil Brunch’. Due to the transition, she’s changed the name of the show. No word yet on an actual premiere date.
