Welcome back! The Miami Heat and their respective better halfs, returned to the White House on Tuesday (January 14th) for a second straight year, celebrating their 2013 NBA championship.
During the press conference, where President Obama welcomes the team, he joked:
This group has now won twice, but it’s gone to the Finals three times, and sometimes it feels like they’re still fighting for a little respec. I can relate to that.
The team met with President Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama. The team also visited with wounded warriors from the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. Obama added:
The Heat showed us the kind of heart and determination it takes to be a champion. They also showed what heart means off the court.
