[WATCH] Samuel L. Jackson Blasts TV Reporter After Mistaking Him For Lawrence Fishburne: ‘All black people don’t look the same!’
Can we say awkward? Actor Samuel L. Jackson, who is known for his popular movie speeches and rants let a reporter have it on live TV. Jackson who is doing promo for his new movie ‘Robocop‘ tore into a reporter who mistook him for fellow actor Laurence Fishburne. The veteran reporter, Sam Rubin, for KTLA asked Jackson about his new Superbowl commercial (the KIA ad starring Fishboune as his character from The Matrix trilogy) and that’s when it went south. Jackson commented,
You’re as crazy as the people on Twitter, I’m not Laurence Fishburne! We don’t all look alike! We may be all black and famous, but we all don’t look alike…You’re busted! You’re the entertainment reporter for this station and you don’t know the difference between me and Laurence Fishburne?
The reporter tried to apologize several times and wanted to talk about the film but to no avail. Jackson continued,
I’m the other guy … the other one. ‘What’s in your wallet?’ There’s more than one black guy doing a commercial. I’m the ‘What’s in your wallet?’ black guy. He’s the car black guy. Morgan Freeman is the other credit card black guy.
You only hear his voice, though, so you probably won’t confuse him with Laurence Fishburne. There’s a heavier-weight black guy that’s like putting cash down in the seats in a baseball stadium, but he’s also the black guy that turns off the house, the water and the lights when his kid tells him the house is cool. I’m not that guy either.
I’ve actually never done a McDonald’s or Kentucky Fried Chicken commercial. I know that’s surprising.
And I’m the only black guy that’s in ‘Robocop’ that’s not a criminal.
Peep the very painful exchange on the next page.
