[EXCLUSIVE] Charlamagne Tha God On: The Breakfast Club, New TV Show + What He Misses Most About Wendy Williams
Charlamagne: She told me that you are either going to be of the people or of the industry. She was like, “when you are of the people, you are going to continue to give the honest opinions of the people because the people are your first priority. The way we talk in the barbershop, the beauty salon, or on social media: you always express that through your platform whether it is radio or television. When you are of the industry, you are not going to really tell the honest opinions of the people because you are going to be worried about getting invited to album release parties or signing parties. Whatever it is, you going to care about being in the good graces of the artists and you will care if the artists come to your shows”. The other thing she said was that if you are worried about artists coming to your shows, then you don’t really have a show because if artists are what make your show, you don’t have a show. It is the Wendy Williams Show, it is the Howard Stern Show, and it is the Breakfast Club Show. We are the ones that are on the radio every day that you all have to tune into to listen to. The Jay-Z’s and the Kanye’s don’t come to your show everyday. They come once every two years. If you really are relying on guests making your show, you don’t really have a show. Those are the two greatest pieces of advice she gave me.
On if he misses his relationship with Wendy Williams:
Charlamagne: Yes, absolutely because you always want that mentorship, especially now because it is like, who do you talk to about certain things? Of course the best person to talk to would be somebody that has been in that position, who has been there but she gave me everything I needed for those three years. People come into your life for reasons, seasons, and lifetimes. Everything I learned in those three years, I still have them with me now. She did her job. That is Wendy though. Anybody that has ever worked for Wendy or knows Wendy – that’s how Wendy is. Wendy will give you the opportunity. You either make the most of the opportunity or you don’t. I’m one that made the most of the opportunity. I do nothing but solute that women.

Great interview!! I like how he gave props to Wendy Williams. After listening to him describe his interview approach, he really is the male version of her in a lot of ways.
thank ya!
Great interview Jasmine. Charlamagne is one of my favorite media personalities because he stays true to himself, a lot of people are faking it just to make it.
thank ya!
See this is why I can’t get mad at C tha god cause he keeps it real and surprisingly has a VERY positive outlook on things! I clicked on the link for some shade but I am actually walking away with more. I really liked his vision board concept. I’m going to make a poster board version and keep a notebook version with me at all times! I would love to have sit and lunch with him. Aside from his radio personality he seems like a VERY cool dude…
I love his Vision Board concept too.
Great Interview Jasmine…this interview has certified that I am here for Charlamagne…dude has to be respected for being true to himself…100%
I’m glad he didn’t have anything bad to say about Wendy.Even though he had said that her husband and he weren’t on good terms when they parted ways.Good for him for taking the high road. Those two worked well together and have went on to create very beneficial careers.
Thanks for helping out, excellent info.
