Gearing up for season 2 of “The Face” and rocking a lovely fro, super model Naomi Campbell is in full promo mode, promoting her reality TV show. This week, the 43-year-old legendary model visited Hot 97’s Angie Martinez where she discusses how she “will never get along with anyone“, still holding down the modeling game and gushing over new actress and Oscar winner, Lupita Nyong’o. In addition to holding a coveted spot as a executive producer, she’s also one of the judges along with  Anne V and Lydia Hearst with host Nigel Barker mentoring for the cast of 12 aspiring supermodels.  The show, set up similar to team talent shows (The Voice) three teams of aspiring “modeltestants”, each led by a supermodel coach, are guided through real life modeling life and gigs.

Throughout the series, the supermodel coaches mentor young hopefuls using the lessons and skills they have learned to ultimately chose one girl to become ‘The Face’ of Frédéric Fekkai’s 2014 national ad campaign.

During her Hot 97 conversation, Naomi speaks frankly about her non no-nonsense personality and how she’s perceived:

I do it; [its] at a real passion. Because flipping out is coming from an emotional place and when it comes to my girls I am like, ‘I am going to question things’. If I don’t think something’s fair I’m questioning it. I wanna know. And I dont praise if they’ve done something that’s God-awful, I’m telling them that was awful. I mean…we learn from our mistakes and I’m not here to sugarcoat anything for them where they’re not going to learn and that’s why they come to the face because they want to learn.

She also gushes about her love for new Oscar winner and chocolate beauty, Lupita Nyong’o. She beams.

Well you know the girl of the moment and the girl of the night without doubt before she even stepped off the red carpet was Lupita. She was so eloquent, elegant, riveting. The way she spoke; she touched everyone, she remembered everyone. Of course I cried and she just looked stunning… throughout the whole season of award seasons , I’ve seen pictures of her and it’s still a simplicity to her and humble at the same time and I’m so grateful for her to now have a new great black actress that we can just look up to with pride.

During her interview with The Breakfast Club, she reveals a very private struggle about her past–her drug addiction. While she doesn’t speak specifically about her former drug of choice, she admits that she’s in recovery. She shares:

I believe in recovery….I’m in recovery and it’s something that I respect and try to make sure that something thats in my mind, everyday. I went on Larry King and said it.

She also shares that she’s a fan of black models today,

I support all of the young black models of today….The show has been extremely diverse…In the ads, it’s a big improvement we’re seeing more models of color…We hope this will not be a trend…

Naomi comments on negative tabloids, blasting the fact that she no longer has edges [due to years of weaves]:
It doesn’t bother me. I have gotten thick skinned. I actually like social media. Listen, I don’t wake up how Renee makes me up everyday. No, I don’t. And you know I go to my grocery store and do my own groceries. I mean everyone has their opinion and most importantly, you  have to know you.
