It looks like we haven’t seen the last of the Basketball Wives’ cast member, Tami Roman. After season five ended, a number of cast members threw in the towel, saying they no longer wanted to be involved with the show. Two reality stars in particular, Evelyn Lozada and Tami both expressed their interests in their own spin-offs. From the looks of things, Tami’s spin-off, Roman Empire (working titled), is moving full speed ahead.
The mother of two has began filming in Houston, where she now resides. While we’ve caught her filming with her two daughters (Lyric and Jazz), we don’t have much confirmed insight on the official cast.
In an interview with the Chicago Tribune she shares:
We are taping this week for an hour pilot and then going forward from there. My focus is getting this storyline about my life in development and making it something VH1 is proud of and brings in viewers…I have a TV show coming this summer that CBS has asked us not to talk about. It’s with a very well-known and respected Academy Award-winning star. People get to see me back in the lane I was in before returning to reality TV.
Late last year, Tami confirmed the show with The Morning Riot, telling them:
I don’t even know if ‘Basketball Wives’ is even going to have another season. My focus right now is ‘The Roman Empire.’ That’s my own show; it’s in development. It’s about my life, my daughters, my core group of friends.”
Even before the spin-off announcement, there were signs that Basketball Wives would not return with its original cast. She shared with Hot 97.
But I do believe that Bastball Wives has run it’s course. I think it’s just time the natural trangression is we have our own shows or we have ventures that we move onto and keep the train moving.
