Rocsi Diaz Defends Keshia Chante After Awkward Interview With August Alsina
Tuesday afternoon, an awkward encounter went down between TV personality/journalist Keshia Chante and singer August Alsina. The up and coming artist was on BET’s 106 & Park, promoting his new album, Testimony. During one of the segments, Keshia Chante asked August a question about Trey Songz. For those unfamiliar with the Trey Songz vs. August Alsina beef click here. In short, August has spoken publicly about his beef with Trey. Fast forward to his BET appearance and Keshia Chante asked if there was any chance if he (August) and Trey may one day bury the hatchet and do a collaboration. Innocent question, right? Not according to August’s reaction.

He didn’t curse her out from the clip I saw. He used a curse word , but it wasn’t directed at her ex: You ain’t shit would have been her getting cursed out. She has a right to ask and he has a right to respond. 106&park is played anyways
She doesn’t “have a right” to ask when it has been CLEAR from the jump he doesn’t want to asked about it. It very unprofessional and is also “ambush journalism” to have someone you’re interviewing be under the impression you’re NOT going to ask something and you blindside them later on.
I have to agree… Everyone is all up in arms about him using a curse word in his response, as if he spit on her or called her out her name. He didn’t. But nobody is saying how wrong she was to ask the question in the first place… And of course Rocsi is going to jump to her defense because she’s in the same line of business… And then to justify her support of Keisha by saying “any other journalist would have asked too…” (in so many words) just shows that they don’t give a f#ck about respecting the interviewee’s wishes. Keisha got what she deserved and it wasn’t nearly as bad as folks are making it out to be.
I saw the interview as well.He said he asked them not to ask him that.She took a chance.And he told her again,Oh,well.I can’t stand when people in the media say,the people want to know that’s why we ask.It doesn’t have anything to do with the people.They are creating a job for themselves.That job just gives us stuff to talk about that’s nothing but gossip.We can do without that for real.
I feel BET was wrong for asking him that after he told them not to. There just trying to add fuel to the fire. And with them asking anyways he got irritated as a normal person would. She should not have asked that’s why she got that response.
I think it was just totally disrespectful how he responded to the question…. if he didn’t want to answer, that’s fine… there are other ways to respectfully say u don’t want to answer the question. Plain and simple. To respond in the way he did was completely immature and disgraceful in my opinion. I was a fan but I will not be buying his album Testimony now because I have lost respect for him as an artist, the way he behaved. Shame on August Alsina…. smh

If you watch the video closely as soon as she says something about his last visit he closes his eyes. That’s the first sign of frustration he knew what she was doing…and had she just stopped there he wouldn’t have snapped at her. Any smart and real person wouldn’t ask him about a damn beef on probably the most bitter sweet best day of his life. Not only the release of his first album but his dead brothers birthday. He simply didn’t want negativity and she brought that. Besides I’m sure y’all say worst things to your mothers…let’s be real.

As a journalist I can understand asking those types of questions but if you spoke to whoever prior and there were topics off limits, I personally respect that. Don’t burn bridges for the sake of shock value. I do however think August could have responded better than that. He could have said something like, pick up my album in stores now. He need a better publicist.

I don’t give a dang what he asked them not to ask. He had no business cursing at her. He could have said, “I asked you not to ask me any questions about that so I’m not answering.” The cursing was unnecessary. And I don’t think he would have tried a dude like that. As a journalist she has the right to ask questions, but if it was discussed prior to, that certain things aren’t to be discussed and she goes against that she’s in the wrong, however August could have responded differently but he doesn’t sugar coat nothing and he’s just being his self and you can’t be mad at that.
