This week, rapper Da Brat (real name Shawntae Harris) visited the Rickey Smiley Morning Show, commenting publicly for the first time about the split of her close friend Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon. She explained:
She’s good on taking care of the babies and raising them she’s got a lot of help and she’s doing fine and yes we are still friends and everything and Nick is a great person too.
I’m not going to take nothing away from him because she’s one of my best friends. You know what I mean? They you know had their issues just like every married couple do and they are moving forward. She is and so is he.
Da Brat also discusses her new reality show and weighs in on the newer generation of female hip hop artists like Nicki Minaj and Iggy Azalea; and her opinion about the upcoming the Aaliyah biopic produced by her former adversary Wendy Williams. Check out the conversation below.

If you are mimicking my style of sound like me in anyway you are just letting people know that you love Brat.
RICKEY SMILEY: Because everybody look up to somebody!
DA BRAT: Exactly!
