(EXCLUSIVE) Darryl Strawberry’s Ex-Wife Pleads w/ Judge Over $300K In Back Spousal & Child Support
The ex-wife of Darryl Strawberry headed to court this week to plea with the court to stop an auction of the baseball legends 2 million dollar + retirement plan, claiming she owned a percentage of that money but she was shot down at the last minute by the judge, theJasmineBRAND.com exclusively reports.
Darryl Strawberry (who is the father of Love & Hip Hop New York’s Diamond Strawberry) was reportedly sued by the federal government back in 2012 over massive unpaid tax debt. They demanded they be able to auction off his entire deferred payment plan he made with the NY Mets.
Here’s the backstory. Back in 1985, Strawberry amended his contract with the Mets to pay a portion of his salary after he retired. The plan currently has over $2 million left to be paid out on the agreement with the baseball legend to be paid around $8,891.82 a month.
However, last year the federal court judge presiding over the case granted the governments request to auction off the retirement plan due to Strawberry’s unpaid taxes for 1987, 1988, 1989 and 1990. The auction had been scheduled for January 20th for months and the starting price was set at $500k.
