Grammy Museum Launches Tupac Shakur Exhibit: Afeni Shakur, YG, John Singleton Attend [Photos]

– Additional outfits worn by Tupac Shakur;

– Original tape box and studio notes from Tupac Shakur’s first recording after his prison release; and

– Interviews and performance footage of Tupac Shakur.

Afeni Shakur, Tupac’s mother, was in attendance and said: 

It means a lot to me that Bob Santelli and the GRAMMY Museum have chosen to honor my son with their upcoming exhibit of his works. Tupac’s writings are an honest reflection of his passions for, and about life. His timeless messages have instilled hope for those who have little, and for others, they serve as a catalyst for change. His words continue to motivate and inspire new generations. The world is a better place because of him.

Guests included Shakur’s mother Afeni Shakur, sister Sekyiwa Shakur, stepbrother Mopreme Shakur, rapper YG and director John Singleton.

YG shared a photo of him with Afeni Shakur, with the caption:

I got 2 speak about my influences from TUPAC Lastnight on behalf of the streets doe. W/ the people he grew up with. & I met miss AFENI SHAKUR yesterday and I told her, Thank you and for giving birth 2 TUPAC, That’s 1 NIGGA most NIGGAZ listen 2 like he BIG BRO, some NIGGAZ in the streets with no father figure Listen to his lyriKs and apply them to they life as guidance through these Kold streets in this Kold world we live in.
