For singer Kelly Rowland, 2014 was a year for growth. The former Destiny’s Child member emerged from the “dirty laundry” she aired on her 2013 “Talk A Good Game” album to become a happily married mother. Shortly after, Rowland also witnessed the loss of hers. Doris Rowland Garrison, passed away one month after Rowland’s son, Titan Jewell Witherspoon, was born.

This week, Rowland appeared on “The Meredith Vieira Show” to talk about her newfound joy in motherhood and managed to impressively avoid tears when the conversation shifted to the woman who birthed her. Rowland said she has had her hands full with Titan Jewell, which could be why she hasn’t had time to grieve her mother’s death.

It’s definitely; it’s been a challenge. You know, my husband says, ‘You know babe, you should look at it like it’s a new normal,’ and I think that’s what I’ve done. I am just so blessed to have my son. I don’t think I’ve actually had time to really, really grieve. But I feel her presence often. Like something that happened the other day, Titan was laughing. I was like, ‘What is this boy laughing at,’ because it was such as belly-filled giggle. And I was like, “What is that,” and he’s looking up and he’s smiling and laughing and I was like, that’s mom. Like I just know she’s always near and I am just so grateful for that. God gave me an angel he took one of my Angels away but he still has her covering and hovering over us and I am so grateful and blessed.
