Officer Charged With Murder For Killing Unarmed Black Man, Walter Lamar Scott [VIDEO]
Alarming video footage has surfaced, showing a white South Carolina police officer shooting a black man (running away from him) after what is said to be a traffic stop. Long story short, the footage has led authorities to file a murder charge against the officer. The officer is North Charleston Patrolman Michael Thomas Slager. The man who was shot is 50-year-oldĀ Walter Lamar Scott.
The video was reportedly provided by the deceased man’s family and lawyer. The identity of the person who shot the footage has not been released.
According to reports, Scott was shot 8 times after collapsing. On Tuesday, North Charleston Mayor Keith Summey announced the murder charge at a news conference in which he said Slager had made “a bad decision.” Authorities say the 50-year-old man was shot after the officer had already hit the man with a stun gun after a traffic. The incident took place last Saturday, when Scott was pulled over for a faulty brake light.
