(EXCLUSIVE) Joe Budden Sued Over Illegally Sampling 80’s Band
The lawsuit says the song sampled illegally was from the 1980’s progressive rock ground “The Alan Parsons Project” who won multiple Grammy’s in their day.
The company explains the artists song, “with pulsating arpeggios, a driving beat, and power chords that create a feeling of anticipation, is one of the most recognizable pieces of “pump-up” music ever written, made all the more famous by its use during the entrance of
the Michael Jordan-era Chicago Bulls”.
Further, they say the song has been featured in ads for Dr. Pepper, Nissan and other companies and was even featured on “The Family Guy” and sampled legally in Kanye West and Lil Wayne songs.
However, the company says Joe Budden, DJ Drama nor Shady Records obtained a license from them and they knowingly stole the music without permission.
They say they tried to resolve the matter prior to filing the lawsuit. They are suing Budden, DJ Drama and Shady Records for illegally stealing their music for their hit song and demanding not only damages but an injunction against them from continuing to distribute the track on the mixtape.
