(EXCLUSIVE) Darryl Strawberry’s Ex-Wife SHOT DOWN In Attempt To Be Paid $300K In Back Support
However, last year the federal court judge presiding over the case granted the governments request to auction off the retirement plan due to Strawberry’s unpaid taxes for 1987, 1988, 1989 and 1990. The auction had been scheduled for January 20th for months and the starting price was set at 500k.
Then on the day of the auction, Darryl’s ex-wife showed up to court at 8am and filed an emergency motion for a temporary restraining order to stop the auction from going forward. The auction was set to take place at noon.
Lisa Strawberry demanded the auction be stopped only hours before it was to take place. She argued that as part of her divorce agreement with Darryl she owned half of that deferred payment payout and also said he still owes her $300k in back child and spousal support.
Lisa said that if the auction wasn’t cancelled it would cause her financial crisis. Further, she says the starting price of the auction barely coverD Darryl’s tax debt and if sold off she will lose all chances to enforce the judgements on the back support he owes her.
The government filed docs shortly after her motion and demanded her motion be shot down, claiming she gave up all her rights to the deferred payment plan as part of her bankruptcy back in 2003.
The judge allowed to auction to take place and ordered the funds to be put into an escrow account until a decision was made about who the money would be paid out to. Darryl’s deferred payment plan was sold off to the highest bidder for $1.3 million dollars later that day.
Lisa has been battling his other ex-wife Charisse and the government for over a month on who should be paid what from the $1.3 million.
Then on April 16th, the federal court judge came back with his decision. He ordered that Lisa will be paid NOTHING from her plea to get her back child support. The order says that Lisa gave up her rights to the payment plan when she filed for bankruptcy years ago and she will have to go after Darryl for the unpaid support in another venue. The case was closed the same day. See the exclusive court docs.
