Toni Braxton Talks Kardashian Comparisons & The Need For More Sex [VIDEO]
How Toni balances her career, her life and her lupus all at the same time:
Some days I cannot balance it at all. I just have to lie in bed. Pretty much when you have lupus you feel like you have the flu every day. But some days you get through it. When I am not feeling well I tend to tell my kids, ‘oh mommy is just going to relax in bed today’ and I kind of take it easy. But it is challenging when I am working, because I have to put on that smiley face anyway or I have to do a show and I have to perform for an hour and hour and a half. That’s the toughest part when I have to perform.
Often when it is like that, it’s a lot of you sing to the audience and they kind of help me out without realizing it. I have never not performed. Even when I cannot perform I still figure it out. Sometimes I look back on that evening and [think] how did I get through that? Friends and family support me. I put on a smiley face and get through it.
Her dating life and why her OBGYN said she needs to start using her vagina:
I need to start dating. I have been divorced for almost two years and I haven’t really met anyone I really liked. So I haven’t really been out there yet. So my OBGYN said, ‘Toni for real it is time to get back out there.’
What’s stopping Toni from dating:
Interestingly men do not really approach me. Guy’s really don’t. I will get like a Hi. I do not know why. They really don’t. They approach me and say ‘Hi or I love your work’ or ‘I would love to get together sometime’ and they never follow through. So for me the best way to meet someone is through others like friends of mine introducing me to people. To date publicly, I would be so embarrassed.
If we can expect an album soon from Toni:
Yes, I am working on an album right now. I have a session tonight as matter of fact so I am working on it. I am getting back into the mix again. This year, a single for sure this year. I am working with different writers and producer’s. It is not Love, Marriage and Divorce. Me and Babyface will definitely do something again later but this is going to be just me. He is involved.
Toni’s upcoming projects:
I am working on the Darling Love Story that Oprah is doing, that OWN is doing their first movie….We are due to film this year. We are still working on that script and getting it perfect. Oprah, what I love about her, is that she is meticulous and she said it is not right and we have to get it ready so.
Something Toni sees in Empire and how it relates to the real music business:
I love Empire. I love that show. It is so accurate. It’s the music business circa so 1996 to 2005 that’s exactly how it was. Just the record business how it really works, not the talent part the music business how it is about sales and how it is about how the talent is always important but the sales is how the talent stays out there and the things that go on behind [the scenes] and family and fighting to reign or to have power. That’s all very very accurate. I love that Empire I love that show. Cookie is my favorite character, I love Taraji, she is talented but I am always twisted because I have to go between that and Blackish, between Empire and Blackish those are my two favorite shows.
Toni Braxton’s favorite R&B song and her love for Bobby Brown:
My favorite R&B song. Oh my god! Bobby Brown. Bobby Brown was my Chris Brown to my generation. I know that sounds cray but he was my Chris Brown. Every Little Step, My Prerogative, On Our Own. I was a Bobby Brown fan. I do not think I never told him to his face, at the time he was married to Whitney, the late great Whitney Houston. It would have been weird — ‘Girl, your man used to be my guy. That is not hot.’
