NBA’s Matt Barnes Suspended For Fight With Derek Fisher
The NBA has suspended Matt Barnes two games, as a result of a physical altercation with New York Knicks coach Derek Fisher, a source tells Yahoo Sports. As previously reported, the fight took place in October, at the home of Barnes’ estranged wife — Gloria Govan — in Southern California in October.
Long story short, on his day off from training camp, Fisher was visiting Govan (who once starred on Basketball Wives Miami). The Memphis Grizzlies guard was told by his children that Fisher was at their home. Barnes then went to Govan’s home and a physical altercation ensued. Barnes and Fisher had been good friends as teammates with the Los Angeles Lakers.
Reportedly, Barnes is expected to serve the suspension in Tuesday’s game against the Miami Heat and Saturday’s game at the Utah Jazz. He will lose about $64,000 in salary because of the suspension.
