Roland Martin Slams Snoop Over ‘Roots’ Criticism: Put the weed down! [VIDEO]
Roland Martin is not a fan of Snoop Dogg’s remarks about the ‘Roots’ reboot. The four-night series aired Monday on History, A&E and Lifetime channels. The remake is based on ABC’s landmark 1977 miniseries of the same name, taken from author Alex Haley’s 1976 novel, which explored the horrors of American slavery. Prior to it airing, Snoop hopped on Instagram stating:
I’m sick of this. … How the f**k they gonna put Roots on Memorial Day? They just going to keep beating that sh*t into our heads as to how they did us, huh?

Roland has responded, telling Snoop to put down the weed and put his money where his mouth is and fund Black film projects that depict successful African Americans. See the clip below.
