Big Freedia Gets Probation, Fine & Community Service for Section 8 Theft
This week, Big Freedia (real name Freddie Ross Jr.), was sentenced to three years of probation. The bounce artist and reality star was fined $35,000, to be paid in increments of $500 per month, and she must do 100 hours of community service.
Since she’s repeatedly failed drug tests, she is also required to undergo periodic drug testing. Freedia will also have to provide financial disclosures.
This was the penalty for her continuing to receive Section 8 federal housing assistance vouchers after she was found to be earning too much money to be eligible for government aid.
Earlier this year, Freedia pleaded guilty to the charge and agreed to pay a restitution of approximately $34,800. She was released on bond.
Freedia has successfully participated in a drug rehabilitation program and on the day of sentencing tested negative for drugs.
