Sevyn Talks Returning To Sing National Anthem
In an exclusive interview with theJasmineBRAND.com, Sevyn Streeter opens up about her performance last night, where she sang the national anthem before Philadelphia hosted the Los Angeles Lakers. Her performance comes after the 76ers canceled her previous appearance in October because she wanted to sing while wearing a “We Matter” jersey. When asked about her controversial ‘We Matter’ jersey, she explains:
Yes they knew before I would be wearing my we matter jersey again.
She adds,
I love my country. I want to say that, but I want it to be better for everyone. That’s what this jersey means to me. Last night made me really happy. I have to thank the 76ers players for being a strong advocate in my return.
She continues,
I’m happy we were able to turn an unfortunate situation around into something positive. We also have partnered to do great things in the community. Yesterday we worked with the boys and girls club, gave a donation as well as provided them toys for the holidays. Now time to hit the road on the #GirlDisruptedTour ??
