Russell Simmons “All Def Movie Awards” To Air Feb. 26th
Russell Simmons “All Def Movie Awards”
The All Def Movie Awards are back! Fusion and All Def Digital have teamed up to celebrate diversity in motion picture entertainment. Days before the Oscars, the event was filmed at the Belasco and hosted by comedian Mike Epps.
The unconventional ceremony was created in 2016, following the #OscarsSoWhite controversy. Some of the entertaining categories include: Token Sidechick, Best Latino in a non-service industry role, Best Edges and Bad A** Boss Chick. During the ceremony, All Def Digital founder Russell Simmons stated regarding the Oscars,
It’s not that people are bad or racist or anything like that, but it’s that people aren’t sensing it. I don’t have anything against the Academy Awards, not at all. My judgment of them is not a dislike of the individuals, but it’s the infrastructure that they’re working on that needs change. They are aware of the change that needs to be done and they have to be insightful. We need everybody together making these choices because then we reflect America.
The second annual All Def Movie Awards airs Feb. 26 on Fusion.
