Ice Cube, Amber Rose, Mike Epps Snag ‘All Def Movie Awards’

Russell Simmons’ second annual All Def Movie Awards returned Sunday night, showcasing the diversity in the movie industry. The unconventional ceremony was created in 2016, following the #OscarsSoWhite controversy. Hosted by Mike Epps, the ceremony aired on Fusion, in direct competition with the Oscar telecast over on ABC. During the ceremony, Simmons explained,

It’s not that people are bad or racist or anything like that, but it’s that people aren’t sensing it. I don’t have anything against the Academy Awards, not at all. My judgment of them is not a dislike of the individuals, but it’s the infrastructure that they’re working on that needs change. They are aware of the change that needs to be done and they have to be insightful. We need everybody together making these choices because then we reflect America.

Some of the entertaining categories included the Best Smash In A Motion PictureMost Out of Place White Person, Best Edges and Best Latino Not in a Service Industry Role.
