Rosario Dawson May Star In X Men Spinoff Film ‘New Mutants’
Rosario Dawson’s resume in the Marvel Comics realm continues to blossom. The 38-year-old actress co-stars in Netflix’s Daredevil and Luke Cage. And according to a new report, she’s in negotiations to join the cast of Fox’s Marvel movie franchise, the X-Men spinoff New Mutants.
Reportedly, Dawson will play Dr. Cecilia Reyes, a medical doctor who has the ability to generate a protective bio-field around herself. The character assumes a mentor role for the group of fledgling heroes.
Anya Taylor-Joy and Maisie Williams have already signed up for the film. The film is being directed by Josh Boone and has a release date of April 13, 2018.
Rosario made her film debut in the 1995 teen drama Kids. Her subsequent film roles include He Got Game, Men in Black II, 25th Hour, Rent, Sin City, Death Proof, Seven Pounds, Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief, and Top Five. She has also provided voice over work for Disney and DC.
For her role in Rent, Dawson won the Satellite Award for Best Supporting Actress – Motion Picture; for her role in Top Five, she was nominated for the Critics’ Choice Movie Award for Best Actress in a Comedy.
Dawson portrays Claire Temple/Night Nurse in five of the Marvel/Netflix shows, including Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, and The Defenders.
