Will Smith Cast In “Aladdin” Remake

Will Smith has been snagged for the role of Genie in the the live-action “Aladdin” remake. Disney has also cast the role for Aladdin with newcomer Mena Massoud. Naomi Scott has officially been cast as Princess Jasmine.

Guy Ritchie will direct the remake of the 1992 animated classic. The original animated movie was a comic take on the Arabic folk tale of a young man granted three wishes by a genie trapped in a lamp.“Aladdin” was the highest-grossing film of the year in 1992, and won Academy Award.

Will Smith’s most recent role was in the drama “Collateral Beauty” and superhero film, “Suicide Squad.” He’s starring in the upcoming fantasy film,”Bright” hits theaters December 2017 and will rejoin Margot Robbie in “Suicide Squad 2.”
