Mariah Carey Received Millions From Ex-Fiance In Settlement, Keeping 35 Carat Engagement Ring
Mariah Carey Received Engagement Ring, Multimillion Dollar Settlement From Ex-Fiance James Packer
Though Mariah Carey and James Packer never walked down the aisle, the pair has reached a financial settlement. Carey, 47, and Packer, 50, were engaged from January to October 2016, but broke up after a well publicized fight while vacationing in Greece, as they were already planning the wedding. According to reports, Carey received,
A settlement package is valued between $5 and $10 million.
Additionally, it is speculated that she also kept the 35 carat engagement ring given to her by the Australian billionaire. The pair became engaged in January 2016, where James invited Mariah’s close friends for a private dinner at NYC’s Eleven Madison Park, where he proposed. The pair had been dating for 10 months, with the mogul being the first public relationship that Mariah had, since splitting from ex, Nick Cannon.
Last November, the couple broke up with Mariah seeking a $50 million dollar inconvenience fee for uprooting her life to move to LA for him. The singer claimed that because of the situation, she was so traumatized that she had to cancel the South American leg of her tour. Reports also stated,
She still has the ring and wears it now on her middle finger. They 100 percent have not spoken for a year, maybe even longer than that.
In October, Packer told media outlet The Australian in an interview about dating the singer,
I was at a low point in my personal life. She was kind, exciting and fun. Mariah is a woman of substance. But it was a mistake for her and a mistake for me.
It would have been the third marriage for both. Recently, Carey signed a management deal with Roc Nation and is recovering from a respiratory infection that has caused her to cancel several “All I Want For Christmas Is You” tour dates.
