UPDATE: Aziz Ansari Accused of Sexual Misconduct By Woman, Comedian Responds
Aziz Ansari Accused of Sexual Misconduct By Woman
Update: Aziz has responded to the claim of sexual misconduct through his publicist:
In September of last year, I met a woman at a party. We exchanged numbers. We texted back and forth and eventually went on a date. We went out to dinner, and afterwards we ended up engaging in sexual activity, which by all indications was completely consensual. The next day, I got a text from her saying that although “it may have seemed okay,” upon further reflection, she felt uncomfortable. It was true that everything did seem okay to me, so when I heard that it was not the case for her, I was surprised and concerned. I took her words to heart and responded privately after taking the time to process what she had said. I continue to support the movement that is happening in our culture. It is necessary and long overdue.
A 23-year-old woman is claiming Aziz Ansari of sexual misconduct. The woman (who is a photographer) recounted her story anonymously, alleging that she went out with the 34-year-old comedian and actor and things ended with her feeling like she was assaulted. She says last fall, they met at an Emmys after-party and exchanged numbers, which lead to a date a week later in Manhattan. She says that after their date they went to Ansari’s apartment afterward and that’s when things escalated to a point of discomfort. She recounts,
In a second, his hand was on my breast. It was 30 minutes of me getting up and moving and him following and sticking his fingers down my throat again. It was really repetitive. It felt like a fucking game … most of my discomfort was expressed in me pulling away and mumbling. I know that my hand stopped moving at some points, I stopped moving my lips and turned cold.
She claims to have reiterated her reluctance to do anything sexual and says that Aziz listened at first, but soon chose to persist anyway.
He sat back and pointed to his penis and motioned for me to go down on him. And I did. I think I just felt really pressured. It was literally the most unexpected thing I thought would happen at that moment because I told him I was uncomfortable.
After one last attempt at watching TV with him, the woman says the actor allegedly “kissed her again, stuck his fingers down her throat again, and moved to undo her pants,” which prompted her to leave. She claims that next day, Aziz texted her thanking her for the “fun” evening. She says she responded,
Last night might’ve been fun for you, but it wasn’t for me. You ignored clear non-verbal cues; you kept going with advances.
She said he responded,
I’m so sad to hear this. Clearly, I misread things in the moment and I’m truly sorry.

Aziz has yet to comment.
