Soccer Star Mario Balotelli Walks Off Field Over Racists Taunts From Fans [VIDEO]

Unfortunately, racism has no bonds as Brescia‘s star, Mario Balotelli was subjected to racist chants in Brescia’s Serie A match on Sunday (Nov. 3rd) from the spectators at Stadio Marc’Antonio Bentegodi in Verona, Italy.

During the play, Mario Balotelli picked up the ball after dribbling to the corner of the field, then punted it into the stands. Afterwards, he then walked away and off the field as his teammates took action and explained the issue with the referee.

Mario Balotelli did not speak with reporters after the match but he was visibly affected by the alleged unpleasant taunts by fans. He took to his Instagram posting a video of the incident with a message thanking those who showed solidarity with him. He says,

“Thanks to all of the colleagues on the field and all of the solidarity towards me and to all of the messages received by you fans. Thank you very much. You have proven to be real men, not like who denies the evidence.”

Brescia head coach, Eugenio Corini gave a comment on the offensive chants but says he did not hear them,

“If the referee decided to suspend the match and ask for that announcement to be made something must have happened.”

In addition, this wasn’t the first time Serie A has encountered a string of racism incidents over the weekend. On Saturday (Nov. 2nd), another match was temporarily paused due to anti-territorial chants.

At the time of the incident, Brescia trailed 1-0 and eventually took a 2-1 lost. Balotelli scored a goal with just five minutes from the final whistle.
