Grownish has already been renewed for a second season, with the network ordering 20 more episodes of the show.
The premiere of the series ranked as the younger-skewing cable network’s best comedy launch in five and a half years. It also opened with 1.56 million total viewers, including 917,000 among the adults 18-49 demographic.
Grown-ish follows the Johnsons’ eldest daughter Zoey (Yara Shahidi) as she heads off to college and begins her journey to adulthood but quickly discovers that not everything goes her way once she leaves the nest. Deon Cole, Trevor Jackson, Francia Raisa, Emily Arlook, Jordan Buhat, Chloe x Halle, Luka Sabbat and Chris Parnell also star.
