Oprah Winfrey Made $110 Million From Selling Weight Watchers Shares!
Business is booming, literally for Oprah Winfrey. Reportedly, the 64-year-old media mogul is cashing in on her Weight Watchers International Inc. investment. Back in 2015, she bought a stake in the company. According to a regulatory filing, this month, she made a whopping $110 million by selling 2 million shares of the company, most of which came from exercising options. She also gave back, donating 361,000 shares to her charitable foundation, which sold them for $22.6 million.
According to a statement from the company, Oprah unloaded the shares to diversify her investment portfolio and make the donation. Weight Watchers said that she won’t sell additional shares this year. Oprah said in a statement,
I am deeply committed to Weight Watchers and continue to see a bright future for the company.
In non-bag-securing-news, Oprah is co-starring in Ava Duvernay’s latest film, ‘A Wrinkle In Time’, which hits theaters Friday.
