EXCLUSIVE: E-40 Settles ‘Captain Save A Hoe’ Lawsuit
EXCLUSIVE: E-40 settles Captain Save a Hoe Lawsuit
theJasmineBRAND exclusively reports, E-40 and an author have reached a settlement. This month, documents were filed showing that the case will be officially closed.
Here’s the backstory: E-40 sued Erika Kane and her publishers for a book titled “Captain Save a Hoe”.
The title of the book is the same title of his hit 1993 song. The rapper says he owns the rights to “Captain Save a Hoe” and the author is profiting off his hit song and uses it word for word in her book. He claimed the book was an infringement on his copyrights and trademarks. January 5, Kane responded to the suit, counter-suing him. She denied all allegations of copyright infringement and demanded his lawsuit against her be thrown out. She sued him for intentional business interference and stated that the cease and desist letters he fired off to Amazon and other outlets caused her book to be pulled for sale. Kane also wanted the court to order rule that her book was not infringing on his copyrights/marks and damages for his interference with her sales.
