Lee Daniels Inks New Deal With 20 Century Fox
Congratulations to Lee Daniels! The 58-year-old producer, director and writer has set up a new overall deal at 20th Century Fox Television. He says of the deal,
I’ve loved the creative freedom Fox has afforded me over the last several years and proud of the work that we’ve collectively achieved as a result of it. I’m excited to continue my time at the studio and produce television that isn’t only personal to my own stories, but also find undiscovered, diverse, new voices to bring to the small screen.
Daniels is the latest showrunner to have recently signed a deal with the studio. He produced “Monster’s Ball” and directed “Precious”, which received six Academy Award nominations, including Best Director; it won two of the awards. In 2012, Daniels directed “The Butler”, a historical fiction drama featuring an ensemble cast portraying unique events on the 20th century presidents of the United States at the White House. Daniels is also a co-creator, executive producer, and director of the television series Empire and Star, which debuted in 2015 and 2016, respectively.
