Jay-Z Convinces Meek Mill to Cancel White House Visit
Meek Mill has been entangled various court cases with a justice system badly in need of reform. Since his prison release two weeks ago, the mission has been to shine light on police corruption. The “Wins & Losses” rapper has done several high profile interviews and held a press conference alongside Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf.
Meek was set to speak today at a Prison Reform Summit hosted by President Trump. Sources say during a Thursday night phone call with Jay-Z, it was expressed that meeting with Trump would be harmful to Meek’s image and prison reform cause. Considering the backlash the Kanye/Trump association caused the rapper, this is a valid concern. Meek Mill has since issued a statement, saying,
I was originally scheduled to be part of a panel on Prison Reform at the White House to help shed light on the issues within the system. Unfortunately, the focus turned to the President and Myself which concerned me that it might take away from creating a positive result from today’s discussions.
The Dream Chasers’ boss continued,
As a result, I decided not to attend so that the focus would be solely on fixing our prison system. Most importantly I remain fully committed to improving our criminal justice system.
Do you think Meek Mill should meet with President Trump?
