Woman Who Took Photo Of ‘Cosby’ Actor Apologizes – If I Could Take It Back I Would!

The woman who snuck the photo Geoffrey Owens at Trader Joe’s is speaking out. The woman’s name, who claims she had no ill intentions when taking the photo, is Karma Lawrence. In a new interview, she is detailing the aftermath of sharing the photo Owens while he was a cashier at the New Jersey supermarket. She professes how, growing up, she was a big fan of the show, and of Owens character, Elvin Tibideaux. Since Owens has gone viral – and received recognition from stars like Tyler Perry, Tami Roman, and Terry Crews – Lawrence says she’s been bombarded with hate mail and nasty social media posts about her prior actions.

The 50-year-old says people have even gone as far as placing Devil horns on her head. She says,

“So much hate. So much nastiness. Oh, it’s been terrible. They write Karma’s a b****. It’s bad.”

In hindsight, Lawrence says she regrets ever submitting the photos to blog sites,

“It wasn’t malicious. That’s on my kids, my grandkids, my parents. I’m not that type of a person. I’m not the monster they’re making me out to be.”

While she wallows in her mistakes, many are wondering what triggered her to invade Owens’ privacy in such a way. As she spoke to the mistake, she recants,

“I don’t know why I snuck a picture. I figured everybody does it. I don’t know what possessed me. I just did it. I didn’t even think about it. I just kind of did it on impulse and it was a bad impulse.”

The hate has gotten to the point, she’s had to remove herself from social media. She says if she could say anything to Owens again,

“I would tell him, ‘I am extremely, extremely apologetic about what has happened. And if I could take it back, I would.”

Owens sparked dialogue among social media after photos of him working at his local Trader Joe’s in New Jersey went viral.

The discourse, in question, was due to Owens previously being an actor on the comedy sitcom, The Cosby Show from the 1980s-1990s. The actor has come forward clarifying he was working at the supermarket because he was in between gigs and needed to support his family. He relishes that he had no shame in working for the company and that no one should feel any remorse for him. Since his garnering of attention, he has had to resign from the organization as a result.
