Kanye West Co-Signs A$AP Bari Amidst Rape Allegations – I was scared to say he was my friend, that was some p*ssy sh*t
As the world turns its focus on rape and other sexual assault (thanks to the news of Bill Cosby’s arrest and Brett Kavanaugh’s confirmation), Kanye West is refocusing attention on to a few individuals in his life who have been accused of violence against women. He admits that rather than shunning them or being afraid to acknowledge them, he should have been open about their friendship.
One friend, in particular, is A$AP Bari, co-founder of hip-hop collective A$AP Mob. Last year a video surfaced of Bari, real name Jabari Shelton, getting into bed with a naked woman whom he found having sex with his assistant. Bari can be heard saying, “You fu*ked my assistant, now you’
“shut the fu*k up.”
The video was uploaded to social media by Ian Connor, who ironically has been accused of rape in the past and was also affiliated with Kanye West as a stylist and model for his Yeezy Season clothing line. A$AP Bari denied the authenticity of the video, claiming it was edited, however, he was arrested in London on sexual assault charges this year and his partnership with NIKE was dropped. Bari is also being sued for $1 million. Reportedly, a sexual assault case against Bari in Los Angeles has been dropped due to the victim being unwilling to cooperate. It’s unclear whether these cases are related.
On Monday night, Kanye took to Twitter to voice his regret of not publicly supporting Bari during that time.
there’s no way I would have the number 1 record in the world without this man here. He broke me out of my pretentious rich nigga shell.
Bari challenged me when no one else did and when he got in trouble I was scared to say he was my friend just like I did with xxx and that was some pussy shit on my part. I let the perception and the robots control me. That’s the true sunken place.
Bari I appreciate your perspective and vision. You brought me closer to Rocky too. Jedis never let perception and cancel culture get between them.
Kanye also regrets not doing the same for XXXTentacion, who was accused of physically and sexually assaulting his girlfriend before he was killed over the summer.
Kanye is gearing up for the release of a new album, Yandhi. Do you think this is all to drum up some attention for the new project?
