Janelle Monae Joins Harriet Tubman Biopic, Cast In Animated Movie ‘UglyDolls’
Congrats to Janelle Monae! The 32-year-old singer and actress has been cast in Focus Features’ “Harriet,” a new biopic chronicling the life of Harriet Tubman, starring Cynthia Erivo who will portray the abolitionist. Others cast in the biopic include: Leslie Odom Jr., Joe Alwyn, Jennifer Nettles, Clarke Peters, Vanessa Bell Calloway, Zackary Momoh and more.
Monae is also starring in the STX animated movie “UglyDolls”. According to reports, she will perform original songs for the film. “UglyDolls” is an animated family adventure based on the toy brand. Monae’s most notable and recent credits include Hidden Figures and Moonlight.
