Niecy Nash Can Relate To Toni Braxton’s Feelings Towards Paying Alimony
Earlier this week, Toni Braxton appeared as a guest on Jada Pinkett-Smith‘s Red Table Talk where she discussed her divorce from Keri Lewis and how she felt having to pay him alimony.
[I was angry] because I wanted to reneg. I’m gonna be honest. I thought he should say no. [But] if it were reversed and a guy had more, we would expect him to make sure the lady’s okay, we would expect that. So I can’t really b*tch about it too much, however, semi-colon, that’s a tough pill.
I went through this phase of, ‘oooh, men are the new b*tches!’ That’s how I felt. That’s what I was so angry about.
Toni mentioned that she was just one of quite a few celebrity women that has had to pay their husband’s alimony (Brittany Spears, Halle Berry, Mary J. Blige, etc). Actress Niecy Nash says that she’s also one of those women. In a comment on Instagram, she wrote:
So many women have to pay upon exiting their marriage. California is not a fault state. Whoever makes the most pays! Been there. Done that.
