Jussie Smollett – Fox Stands By ‘Empire’ Star, Releases Statement – He Will NOT Be Written Off The Show!
By way of a new statement from FOX, Jussie Smollett‘s character, Jamal Lyon, on “Empire” will NOT have less screen-time. The organization said in their announcement of support on Tuesday:
Jussie Smollett continues to be a consummate professional on set and as we have previously stated, he is not being written out of the show.
theJasmineBRAND reported Smollett’s scenes were being cut down surrounding an ongoing investigation by the Chicago police following the 36-year-old filing a report about being attacked by two men who shouted racial and homophobic things during the wee hours of the morning on Jan. 29.

In addition to reports claiming Smollett’s screen-time being reduced, other reports claimed police received a new tip about Smollett being spotted the night of the attack in an elevator with the two brothers Ola and Abel Osundairo, and was given anonymously. Police have since responded calling the tip,
unfounded.
Meaning, it holds no merit (or value) to their investigation nor can it be confirmed.
