Whoopi Goldberg Almost Died After Getting Pneumonia ‘I Came Very, Very Close To Leaving The Earth’ [VIDEO]
Whoopi Goldberg has been noticeably missing from her moderating chair on ABC’s The View. While her co-hosts have been holding it down for her, it’s safe to say she has been missed.
She spoke out for the first time on how she’s doing amid reports that she was diagnosed with pneumonia.
“I am here. I am up and moving around,” she said in a video.
“Not as fast as I’d like to be, but I am okay, I’m not dead. So, here’s what happened. I had pneumonia and I was septic… pneumonia in both lungs which meant there were fluids, there was all kinds of stuff going on. And yes, I came very, very close to leaving the Earth. Good news, I didn’t.”
She also said she appreciates the support fans and viewers have shown her in her absence. She even showed love for her haters.
“Thank you for all of your good wishes. All of the wonderful things that people have been saying. Even people who are not huge fans of mine have actually said nice things about me. We all know that’s going to change when I get back but for right now it’s brilliant.”
She went to say she can’t wait to see her co-hosts and taking so much time away has been difficult, but she’s ready to tell more when she makes her highly anticipated return. See the clip below.

Late last week, the show also gave an update on her health. Sharing a photo of her, they wrote:
Sending good vibes to this lady! She’s on the mend recovering from pneumonia and we look forward to having her back at @TheViewABC table soon!
Feel better Whoopi!
