Kylie Jenner On Being Labeled Self Made – ‘I Can’t Say I’ve Done It Myself’

Kylie Jenner might have just slightly backpedalled on her self-made billionaire status. After being dubbed by Forbes as the youngest self-made billionaire (thanks to the success of her Kylie Lip Kit and Kylie Cosmetics lines), Jenner stirred up quite the conversation as fans and critics questioned if the reality star turned entrepreneur is really self-made, considering she comes from one of the most famous families in the country.

Even Dictionary.com questioned if Jenner being self-made is legit.

Now, Jenner herself seems to have clarified the now infamous question during a recent interview. She says,

“I can’t say I’ve done it by myself. If they’re just talking finances, technically, yes, I don’t have any inherited money. But I have had a lot of help and a huge platform.”

Still, her big sister Kim Kardashian West was adamant about defending the idea that their entire family is self-made.

Kardashian said in an interview,

“I really didn’t get it, because she is ‘self-made’ — we are all ‘self-made’. What, because we came from a family that has had success? To me, that doesn’t really make sense. I know so many people like that haven’t turned out to be as successful as Kylie. If anything, I’ve seen the complete opposite.”

“Me, Kylie, not one [of the siblings] has ever depended on our parents for anything besides advice. That’s how I lived my life with my dad [Robert Kardashian]. He never gave me anything. We might have the opportunity, but I’ve seen it go the complete opposite way. Nobody works harder than my sisters and my mom.”

Interestingly enough, the Kardashians and Jenners claim to fame has been E!’s Keeping Up With the Kardashians, which just kicked off its 16th season Sunday.

Still, it’s safe to say the sisters have mastered their business skills as each of them has ventured off and launched their own companies.
