EXCLUSIVE: Matty Rich Says T.I. Is ‘Perfect’ For New Film “Caller 100”
theJasmineBRAND exclusively reports, veteran director Matty Rich is thrilled that rapper/actor T.I. is set to star in his upcoming thriller Caller 100.
T.I. is no stranger to the big screen, having appeared in dozens of films throughout his career, beginning with his starring role in cult classic ATL. Now, the Atlanta rapper is set to work with director Matty Rich for new film that is guaranteed to have fans on the edge of their seats. Matty tells us,
“I cannot tell you how excited our entire team is about ‘Caller 100.’ T.I. is perfect for the leading role.”
The film, titled Caller 100, centers around a popular radio personality whose chance encounter with a female listener who turns his life upside down. The film is said to be described in the same vein as the Clint Eastwood-starring 1971 film, Play Misty For Me, which is also about a radio DJ who is stalked by an obsessive female fan.
Rich, whose last feature film was 25 years ago with the romantic coming-of-age classic The Inkwell, broke into the industry at just 19-years-old. In 1991, he became an indie darling with his gritty, heartbreaking film Straight Outta Brooklyn. The film was made with just $450,000 and ended up winning the Special Jury Prize at the Sundance Film Festival and the Independent Spirit Award for Best First Feature. In the years since, Rich decided to leave Hollywood behind and began developing video games under his Matty Rich Games banner.
The project is still in its early stages, so no word yet on other casting choices, production dates or theatrical release dates. In the meantime, you can check out T.I. co-starring alongside Eddie Murphy in the Neflix Dolemite biopic, Dolemite Is My Name!
